Vienna with children: a successful self-experiment

The decision to visit a city with children is not an easy one. You want to discover a city, and enjoy a bit of the local spirit - but that actually works best WITHOUT the CHILD or with a program that suits everyone. Here you go - tips for Vienna with children.

  1. Forest rope park Kahlenberg and Kaiserschmarrn
  2. House of music
  3. Mozart House
  4. House of the sea
  5. Maze in the park of Schönbrunn Palace
  6. Transport Museum Remise
  7. Eating Schnitzel
  8. Sign collecting on a walk
  9. Prater
  10. Trampoline on the Danube

1. In the forest rope park on the Kahlenberg you can not only see Vienna from above and look down on the Danube but also go on climbing tours tailored to the age of the children.

The instruction of the crew is perfect and the highlight: in the "Josefinenhütte" next door you can get the best Kaiserschmarrn. And that's not all. On your way back you hike on the Nasenweg over the Leopoldsberg to Nussdorf. One of the local wine taverns is looking forward to welcoming you.

2. The House of Music, partner of the EasyCityPass, is a discovery house of music. Here you can touch (almost) everything, try it out and it's great fun (not only for the little musicians of tomorrow).

3. No child can get past Mozart. By that I don't mean the Mozartkugeln that are everywhere and that you have to try, but of course the everyday school life. In the Mozart House Vienna, Mozart loses his abstract effect and the residential house and the stories make him very approachable. You walk through several floors, it is entertaining, informative, and surprisingly authentic. The Mozarthaus is a partner of the EasyCityPass.

It's best to go there via Blutgasse, which makes the walk even more exciting.

Extra tip: Almost vis-à-vis there is a wonderful little store that will delight you and the kids. K + K Domgasse. K + K stands for costumes and fun.

4. The Aqua Terra Zoo in Vienna, partner of the EasyCityPass, is something very special. Built into a former high bunker, you can get very close to the animal worlds on several floors. The animals move through this huge building as if they were also just guests and we humans are visiting objects.

Highlight: The roof terrace with café and the view of Vienna.
Extra tip: For already somewhat older children is right next door in the underground the Torture Museum. Worthwhile and is also a partner of EasyCityPass.

Tip: Mariahilfer Straße is the largest shopping street in Vienna and only a few minutes walk away.

5. Everyone wants to go to Schönbrunn, you do too. The palace is impressive, the Gloriette fascinating and the maze and labyrinth in the wonderful Schönbrunn Palace Park perfect for you and your children.

If you also want to visit the zoo in Schönbrunn, it's right next door, do it.

6. The Remise Transport Museum, partner of the EasyCityPass, is a fantastic little museum to touch and discover. In a playful way, you learn a lot about the history of Vienna, which is of course closely linked to the development of local transport.

Here, your old childhood dreams come true for a moment.

7. Nothing beats a Wiener Schnitzel, especially for children. Good news for everyone: they are perfect on every corner of Vienna.

But if it has to be THE WIENER Schnitzel that you don't forget, go to Figlmüller, Vienna's most famous Schnitzel restaurant and near St. Stephen's Cathedral. Pre-ordering is an advantage, but with a little waiting, it also works.

8. If you are worried that walks will be too boring, collect funny signs and funny names along the way. Vienna is full of them.

9. The Prater was once a hunting ground and is now a huge recreational park, on the edge of which is the largest stadium in the city, near which is the fair area, there is a horse racing track and, of course, the huge adventure park with over 250 attractions and the world-famous Vienna Ferris wheel.

You must not leave Vienna until you have been here.

10. Finally, a real Vienna highlight. Trampolining on the Danube and the skyline of Vienna's UNO City in the background. The world's largest floating trampoline facility is easily accessible by subway - Donauinsel stop.

Parents relax and watch or just become a kid too and jump along - either way, you do it, it's fun.

Vienna is wonderful, and Vienna is child-friendly - take your children with you and discover Vienna together. By the way: with the EasyCityPass one child travels for free.
