The 500 year-old Wine Cellar of Villon Wine Bar is one of the oldest wine cellars in Vienna. With around 150 bottled and 25 open wines, Villon is Vienna's top wine bar. The wines are all European, often from small producers and with an emphasis on Austria and Vienna. Snacks include fresh bread baked on the premises, cheese and bruschetta.

Wine has had a long tradition in Vienna

A four-story descent leads 16 meters below the streets in the heart of Vienna. The cellar tour is followed by a tasting of excellent wines, accompanied by stories from the cellar's history, as well as about Viennese wine and Viennese spring water. Directly in Vienna's city center there are four floors 16 meters deep. After the cellar tour, wonderful wines are tasted here and stories from the past are told by candlelight. The Viennese wine and the Viennese high spring water are not neglected either.

Wine Tastings

These narrated wine tastings are held at fixed times every Friday and Saturday (registration required) or can be individually arranged for groups with a minimum of 15 persons. The Villon cellar tour through the History-Keller and its changing history is also possible via audio guide in numerous languages (without registration). Wine tasting is offered in the bar, but Villon is also the only city center bar to offer extensive tours (Fri 16:00, Sat 17:00, only in German; book in advance) of the wine cellars, going 16 meters underground. A modern wine tasting system with 44 open Austrian wines and champagnes also offers information in numerous languages via audio guides.
