Carnival of Cultures

From June 6 to 9, Berlin will once again be transformed into a vibrant stage of diversity - the city celebrates multicultural encounters, tolerance and joie de vivre at the Carnival of Cultures. The street festival around Blücherplatz in Kreuzberg offers four days of music, dance, theater, creative workshops and culinary specialties from all over the world - an experience for the whole family.

The big highlight is the colorful street parade on Pentecost Sunday, which is taking a new route for the first time this year: Due to construction work by Berliner Wasserbetriebe, the parade is moving from its usual Gneisenaustraße in Kreuzberg to Frankfurter Allee in Friedrichshain. The almost three-kilometer route leads from the Ringcenter on Proskauer Straße to Kino International in Mitte. A stage awaits the participants in front of the Kosmos cinema, where the groups will present themselves and be judged by the jury.

With around 4,000 to 5,000 participants and hundreds of thousands of spectators, the Carnival of Cultures is one of the largest street festivals in Germany. The new route opens up exciting perspectives and brings the carnival to a new neighborhood, which the organizers see as an opportunity to forge new partnerships and further strengthen intercultural exchange.

This year's partner district is Pankow, but you can experience music and discover new talent all over the city.

The Fête de la Musique is a festival for everyone - whether you just want to listen, dance along, or make music yourself. And best of all: admission is free everywhere!

Konzerthaus at Gendarmenmarkt

After around two years of renovation, the Gendarmenmarkt was ceremoniously reopened in March 2025 and is now barrier-free, with new natural stone paving and modern infrastructure. The historic square, framed by the Konzerthaus and the German and French Cathedrals, is now even more attractive for visitors and events. The renovation combines monument protection with sustainable technology, such as innovative rainwater management, and creates a new promenade for strolling.

In July 2025, the popular Classic Open Air returns - a musical highlight against the impressive backdrop of the Gendarmenmarkt. From July 17 to 21, a diverse festival of classical music, jazz, pop, and rock awaits you, thrilling you with light and pyro effects. The Konzerthausorchester Berlin, conducted by Joana Mallwitz, will open the festival, and world stars such as Gregory Porter and Anna Netrebko will provide unforgettable moments in the open air.

The extensive restoration work included renewing the wooden cladding and draining the masonry.

The open spaces around the palace were lovingly restored with historic lawns and flowerbeds. Peacock Island is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a popular excursion destination for anyone looking for peace and culture.
