The Ronacher was built in 1872 as the “Wiener Stadttheater” (Vienna City Theater) and has had an eventful history ever since: from a variety and entertainment venue to a time as an ORF studio to its revival as a musical theater in the 1980s. Since its takeover by Vereinigte Bühnen Wien, it has been considered one of the “pearls” of Vienna's theater scene.
