The LILARUM puppet theater is Vienna's top address for puppet theater! Just two subway stops from the city center, you can experience unique performances for children aged 3 and up. The stories we tell are based on children's experiences and themes that are important for their development: Friendship, language, diversity, and much more. Above all this, however, is our most important concern: We want to entertain children in a sophisticated way and enable them to experience art! What makes LILARUM special

We do this in an internationally unique way: five puppeteers, invisible to the audience, animate the puppets built in our workshop. They speak with the voices of well-known actors (including Michael Niavarani, Mavie Hörbiger, and Robert Palfrader), which, like the music, are recorded exclusively in advance. In this way, each play becomes a work of art, combining visual art, music, and performing arts.

Program at LILARUM

The performances at LILARUM are suitable for children aged 3 and over. From mid-September to mid-June, 10 productions from the repertoire are shown, including at least one new production. In addition, national and international artists regularly make guest appearances at LILARUM. Over 35,000 visitors attend the 350 or so performances. You can find our program here!

In addition to its performances, the LILARUM takes its social responsibility as a cultural institution seriously. The theater, awarded the Austrian Ecolabel, attaches great importance to ecological, economic, and social sustainability.
