Schönbrunn Zoo

Today, Schönbrunn Zoo is not only a popular recreational area but also an educational center, a venue for research and teaching, and a strong partner for nature and species conservation projects. It inspires its visitors with enthusiasm for the world of animals and raises their awareness of the need to protect them.

The zoo is open daily from 9 a.m. – 365 days a year, also in winter and on public holidays. Closing times vary between 4.30 p.m. and 6.30 p.m. depending on the season. Please note that the Palace Gardens (Schlosspark) are closed shortly afterwards. Ticket office closing time and last entry time is 30 minutes before the end of visiting time. Some of the animal houses close earlier than the zoo itself.

Dogs are not allowed in the whole area of Schönbrunn Palace Gardens, this includes the zoo. Trained guide dogs for the blind and assistance dogs (with ID card and recognition vest) are exempt from this prohibition.

Let yourself be pampered at the zoo`s various catering establishments. There are not only snack bars but also a number of cafés and restaurants with their own culinary offers. The restaurant Tirolergarten and the Landtmann Park Café can be visited without an admission ticket to the zoo, all the others are solely for the use of zoo visitors. If you are already in the zoo and would like to visit the Tirolergarten or Landtmann Parkcafe please go to one of the three ticket offices and have your ticket stamped accordingly, so that you may re-enter the zoo.
