We are asking 5 questions and our partners are answering. Today we are talking with the Wiener Linien.

Wiener Linien operates the largest transportation network in Austria. They ensure that 2.6 million passengers reach their destinations quickly, safely, and comfortably every day. Safety, reliability, and sustainability are particularly important to them.

Describe the Wiener Linien in one sentence.

Wiener Linien is the largest car pool in Vienna 🌍💚

What will be the highlights at the Wiener Linien in 2021?

The biggest highlight this year is definitely the start of construction of the U5 station Frankhplatz. The U2xU5 public transport extension is Vienna’s largest climate protection and infrastructure project in the coming decade! More than 300 million additional public transport users are possible with the expansion. In addition, our barrier-free Flexity bim fleet is growing.

What special story of Wiener Linien has never been told before, but should be heard?

If you add up the length of all 162 lines of the Vienna Lines, the total length is an incredible 1,152 kilometers. That is the same as the crow flies from Vienna to Monaco. Vienna, by the way, has the 6th longest streetcar network in the world.

Apart from a trip with the Wiener Linien, what else should you definitely have experienced in Vienna?

The public transport system takes visitors to the most beautiful places in Vienna. Our tip: a panoramic ride on the new Flexity streetcar on line 71, which takes you comfortably past City Hall, Parliament, the Burggarten, and many other magnificent historic buildings. An insider tip is the #verkehrsmuseumremise. Visitors can ride a subway themselves in the simulator.

Finish the sentence – Typically Viennese is:

have a Wiener Linien annual pass for 1€ / day ❤ For years, there have been more annual pass holders in Vienna than car owners.
